Our Leadership Team
Nigel graduated in Dentistry at the University of London and, after spells at Universities in Hong Kong and Dundee (where he was Dental Dean), returned to join King’s College London in January 2013 to set up the Dental Innovation and Translation Centre.
He has achieved international recognition and numerous prizes for achievements in science, education, clinical practice, technology transfer and public health. Nigel has over 200 peer reviewed publications, over 90 publications in other forms and holds a wide range of professional Fellowships.
Currently he is Co-Chair of the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS) Foundation and also Chair and co-founder of the Alliance for a Cavity Free Future, an advocacy charity. Nigel is an honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health within the UK’s National Health Service and also works with a wide number of research and professional organisations, private companies and global brands in oral healthcare in translating research evidence into both practice and policy.
Jeff has been a co-founder or Executive Leader of several early-stage technology companies over the last two decades. He took his 1st company, MicroEmissive Displays, from University spin-out to IPO in just over five years, raising over $15M of investment and collecting numerous entrepreneurial, technology and product awards en-route.
He has worked across a variety of industry sectors, developing and taking to market innovative products for consumer electronics, industrial & medical sensing and energy efficiency. As co-founder and CEO of Pyreos; a spin-out from German giant Siemens; he secured international investment from Europe and Japan alongside Scottish and UK investors, and personally closed out ~75% of the Company’s first $3 M of sales.
Jeff has a broad technical knowledge combined with a varied and wide business experience having at previous times held CTO and COO responsibilities. Jeff is a firm believer that everything is possible with belief and passion, investment only accelerates things along.
Chris has a long track record of pioneering new technology in the field of detection, diagnosis and treatment of dental caries, and has been a co-founder of two start-up companies previously. Chris has overall responsibility for Reminova’s technical programmes, and has a daily involvement in our development activities.
Chris was a General Dental Practitioner for over 15 years before his desire to have a more direct and longer-term impact in oral healthcare drove him to complete his PhD in Cariology in 1992, whilst lecturing in Preventive & Children's Dentistry at Dundee Dental School, and being a Research Fellow in the Dental Health Services Research Unit.
He has authored over 40 papers, several book chapters on dental caries and has collaborated widely with high growth start-up companies, Universities, and global oral healthcare companies. He is a named inventor on patents related to dental applications of bio-photonics, electro-chemistry, ultrasonics and imaging technologies. In recognition of his technology innovation, he was appointed as Assistant Director of the Dental Innovation & Translation Centre of King College London in 2013.
Steve is a serial entrepreneur and founder of Innova Partnerships Ltd. Innova works with entrepreneurs, universities and institutes to build their business opportunities into high growth life science companies.
He previously held senior management roles at Unilever plc and Alere Inc. Steve has a broad knowledge of the Life Science sector and experience from R & D commercialisation to corporate acquisition. Both the Scottish and Irish governments have sought out Steve’s strategic thinking and advice in developing Life Science strategy and investment.
He has a passion for helping grow successful, profitable Life Science businesses. Innova Partnerships is an early stage investor and shareholder in Reminova. Steve has recently been made an honary Professor of Entrepreneurship by Kings College London.
Alistair has now brought the curtain down on his long and illusrtious career in accountancy and retired. We will soon announce new CFO arrangments for our expanding company. We would all like to wish Alistair well in his retirement and thank him for helping grow Reminova. He will remain an engaged shareholder.
Edwin is responsible for all aspects of the quality and regulatory systems within Reminova. He has an in-depth knowledge of developing and implementing quality, validation and regulatory systems for high growth companies.
His expertise was amassed over 20 years preparing and executing new and amended submissions for class 1,2 and 3 medical devices for both US FDA Regulatory (510K, PMA, IDE) and European (CE Marking) and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, GMP/GLP and US FDA Quality system regulations.
Edwin has previously held leadership positions at Smith & Nephew Ltd, Ethicon Ltd, AorTech Europe Ltd, and Compliance Solutions (Life Sciences) Ltd whilst consulting to many more.
Gordon is a Professor of salivary biology, at King’s College London Dental Institute, and their appointed non-executive represetnative on Reminova’s Board. Gordon’s research on saliva and the salivary glands includes understanding the many properties of saliva and different functions it has in the oral environment, including of course a critical role in natural remineralisation of tooth enamel.
Gordon and his research group are also examining the role that the biomarkers present in saliva can play in early disease detection as an alternative and safer method than using blood.
He has an extensive peer reviewed publication list and held editorial roles in several prominent dental publications.
Company Advisors
Rolf is one of the inventors of Carisolv© one of the FDA approved dental treatments for non-surgical removal of caries affected dentine. He has been commercialising dental technology with industry, leading academic institutions and experts across Sweden and Europe for over two decades, and has collaborated in creating a dental educational TV and internet channel both for the public and professionals. He has been a founder and Board Member of three publicly listed companies in Sweden.
Colin is Professor Emeritus of Oral Biology at Leeds University, where he was the founding Research Director of the Dental Institute.
He is the author of over 300 publications many of which are seminal works on the development of enamel, and the structure of caries lesions and which have informed and developed the wider understanding of caries and the disease process. During the 1970’s Colin and his research colleagues were first to clearly show that chemicals could slowly diffuse through the surface of caries enamel lesions.
As a biochemist, biomineralisation has always been a keen interest of Colin’s and he was awarded the International Association for Dental Research Distinguished Scientist award in Biomineralisation in 1992.
Ger is an internationally recognised expert in iontophoresis, who likes nothing better than to be taking an active, hands-on role developing technology in the lab. and driving it through into high quality commercial products.
He has led a number of technical development programmes that have utilised iontophoresis to deliver innovative medical products, having started working with iontophoresis in 1993. Ger is a seasoned veteran of the tech start-up scene and has been a Leader and strategist in a number of early stage companies. He contributes to Reminova's technical development management.
